When our home starts getting out of control, the dishwasher is overflowing, the laundry is piling up, our living area looks like a bomb has exploded, many of us wish we could wave a magic wand, and a fairy housekeeper would arrive to help us! With more and more mothers juggling parenting, running a home and also working, it is easy to get over whelmed and not know where to start. Here are home cleaning and tidying tips from Houseproud to help you keep your sanity and achieve some order in your home.
How to start your day...
Family life demands flexibility, and a great attitude to change as we all know that kids do not run like clockwork. It is a good idea to create your own morning routine to start your day. Whether you want to exercise, do a few home chores before the kids wake up or simply have a shower and get dressed in peace, then make a plan for it. If you need to get up 15 minutes earlier, then do it. If you need to give your partner or kids some new chores to do while you get stuff done, then do it. Find a morning routine that works for you and make it part of your day, every day, so it becomes second nature. Be kind to yourself while you are creating this change as it takes at least 21 days to form a new habit.
Do the most awful home chore first
After your morning routine, attack that one thing you dread the most. Is it laundry? Eat that frog and start a load of washing, and hang it out before you leave the house for the day, we guarantee you will feel great for doing it!
Approach organization and home cleaning like a job
Whether or not you also have paid work, there is no doubt that running a household with kids is a job. Planning meals, paying bills, juggling the family’s activities and being the family taxi driver takes plenty of skill, time and needs a good sense of humour. If you think of running your home as a business you are the Director, you can tackle home cleaning tasks with a greater sense of importance, efficiency and plan some fun rewards.
Find some fun in home cleaning…
Some people hate every bit of housework while others find it enjoyable. Most of us can find at least one home cleaning or tidying job we enjoy, is it cooking the family dinner, or ironing in front of a movie? Find one part of running your home that you can find joy in doing.
Some people like to cruise the internet and connect with other mums, others like to go to the shops and have a chat with the locals. Pottering in the garden, folding the clothes, growing herbs or just sitting in your
